Growing Our Belonging: Integrating CST and DEIJB Work at Collegium Member Campuses

Kala Mayer and Rachel Wheeler formed an interdisciplinary online reading group to explore diverse texts and voices on some of the thorniest topics on the Collegium curriculum (with St. Thomas More College, University of Dayton, University of San Diego, and Xavier University).

The 2023 Collegium Colloquy initiated discussions on integrating Catholic Social Teaching (CST) and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging (DEIJB) work. This Catalyst grant would support the formation of a community of practice across five Collegium-member campuses. Our members will meet monthly in 2024 to explore literature, engage guest speakers with expertise in CST/DEIJB, and integrate CST/DEIJB in our teaching, scholarship, and campus lives. Each participant commits to professional transformation in this work, and to producing a deliverable with potential to inform Colloquy conversations. We aim to foster understanding, dialogue, and deeper commitment to CST and DEIJB in higher education.
